Hayes Presidential is a Certified Autism Center™ through the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES).

Accessibility

  • Handicap parking spaces are conveniently located at the front of the Hayes museum/library building. The handicapped-accessible main entrance features gradual slopes that accommodate wheelchairs, walkers and strollers.
  • The museum has an elevator to each of its floors, and there is a handicapped-accessible lift from the lower level into the weapons vault.
  • A mile of paved paths provides access to Spiegel Grove, President Rutherford B. Hayes’ 25-acre wooded estate. The paths can be used to visit the Hayes Tomb, located a short distance from the Hayes Home.
  • Public restrooms are located in the Hayes Museum. They are handicapped-accessible.

If you need special accommodations for mobility or vision or hearing impairment, Hayes Presidential requests a notice of 72 hours. Requests received with fewer than 72 hours notice will be handled to the best of Hayes Presidential's ability.

Photography

  • Photography is allowed on the grounds, in the museum and in the Hayes Home. Overview photos of the library are allowed, but specific materials cannot be photographed.

Videography

  • Videography of events and Hayes Home tours is prohibited unless permission is granted by the marketing/communications manager or executive director. To obtain clearance for videography, contact the marketing/communications manager at 419/332-2081, ext. 217, or ksmith@rbhayes.org

Drones

Parking

  • Parking at the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums is free. Parking areas are available at the front of the library/museum building and at the back of the building. Bus and RV parking is also available.

 

Self-Guided Tours

  • Tours of the museum are self-guided. The museum includes two floors explaining Rutherford B. Hayes’s presidency and life and contains artifacts related to the president, his family, and Ohio history.

Pets

  • Pets are permitted on the grounds of Spiegel Grove, but are not allowed inside the library, museum or Hayes Home. Service animals are permitted inside the buildings.

Children and Families
