Donation of Artifact
The Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums will accept items relating to or owned by Rutherford and Lucy Hayes and their descendants. We also will acquire items reflecting the life and times of the Civil War, the Gilded Age (1865-1900). Items pertaining to the United States presidency, Ohio history, and Sandusky County history also will be accepted into our collection upon the approval of the Executive Director. We will accept artifacts that can be properly cared for, have a proven history and are free from restrictions, such as a requirement to permanently display.
The Hayes Presidential Library & Museums cannot, by law, appraise donated items. If the donor wishes an appraisal, it must be done by an outside expert at the donor's expense.
If you are interested in donating an item, please contact Kevin Moore, curator of artifacts, at 419-332-2081, ext. 228, or [email protected].
Donation of Funds
Monetary donations made to the museum department would be gratefully received. The donor may make a general donation or may request the money be applied to a specific project such as conservation, reproduction of an artifact so it could be used in a teaching program, or for acquisition of additional artifacts.
