General Admission

January - March Hours

The Hayes Home and museum are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. The research library is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday  and the first, second and third Saturdays of the month. On the fourth Saturday of the month, the research library is open by appointment only to out-of-town researchers using manuscript collections, and appointments should be made at least a week in advance. 

Home tours:

Home tours are an hour guided tour, and they take place on the hour. On Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the first tour of the home is at 10 a.m., and the last tour is at 4 p.m. On Sunday, the first tour of the home is at 1 p.m., and the last tour is at 4 p.m. IMPORTANT NOTE:  If you buy the 4 p.m. site pass, you will need to arrive early in order to tour the museum. The entire facility closes at 5 p.m., so if you arrive just for your 4 p.m. tour, you will not be able to tour the museum afterward.

The Hayes Presidential Library & Museums is open all year. 

Hours of Operation 

All facilities are closed on Mondays and Wednesdays in January, February and March.

Museum and Hayes Home: January - March

Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday:  9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Home tours are every hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

Sunday: Noon to 5 p.m. (Home tours are every hour starting at 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.)

Museum and Hayes Home: April - December

Monday - Saturday:  9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Home tours are every hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

Holidays:

Closed: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day and Easter Sunday

Presidents' Day: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Memorial Day: Noon to 5 p.m.

Juneteenth: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

July 4: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Labor Day: Noon to 5 p.m. 

Indigenous Peoples Day/Columbus Day: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Veterans' Day: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Library Hours: 

Monday - Friday and the first, second and third Saturday of the month : 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

The fourth Saturday of the month: Open to out-of-town researchers using manuscript materials by appointment only. Appointments should be made at least a week in advance. 

Closed: The fifth Saturday of the month, Sundays and all holidays, as well as Christmas Eve

*Additional closings may occur when holidays fall on weekends or due to weather emergencies.

Admission to the grounds of Spiegel Grove and the Hayes Presidential Library is free.

Hayes Museum tours for individuals are self-guided. 

The library is free and open to the public.

Those wanting to tour both buildings should plan three hours for their visit. Museum tickets permit same-day re-admittance, which allows visitors to leave the site and return later. A valid ticket must be presented for re-admission.

Group tours of 15 or more should be scheduled two weeks in advance.

If you need special accommodations for mobility or vision or hearing impairment, Hayes Presidential requests a notice of 72 hours.
