Hayes Presidential, Pan Yan Bookstore start romance book club

Read romance novels with themes similar to those President Rutherford B. Hayes’ beloved sister faced during her lifetime at a new book club at the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums.

The Perfect Union Book Club celebrates Fanny Arabella Hayes Platt’s deep love of reading. She often wrote to Rutherford about what she was reading and what she thought of each volume.

The club will read novels that deal with mental health, parenthood, gender expectations and the time in which Fanny lived, 1820 – 1856.

Meetings take at 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month every other month, locations swapping between the Hayes Presidential and its partner on the club, Pan Yan Bookstore in Tiffin.
