Special tours of the Hayes Home offered focusing on art, president and first lady’s marriage
Throughout the summer on certain Wednesdays, the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums is offering special tours of the historic Hayes Home focusing on the home’s art and architecture and the president and first lady’s love story.
The tours last a half hour. Tickets purchased to these tours include a site pass that offers a regular, one-hour tour of the Hayes Home and a self-guided tour of the museum.
Tickets for non-members are $20 for adults, $18 for AAA/military/senior discount, $10 for teens 13-18, $5 for ages 6 and older and free for ages 5 and younger. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums members are admitted for free.
Tickets for these tours are available below. Members must log in to receive their discount. Ticket-holders can then schedule their standard Hayes Home tour when they arrive at the museum front desk.
The tours are offered at 1:30 p.m. on the following Mondays:
- June 25 – 36 Years, a look at the love story between President Rutherford and First Lady Lucy Hayes
- July 9 – Art & Architecture, a look at the paintings and other artwork that adorn the Hayes Home and the home’s Victorian architecture
- July 23 – 36 Years
- Aug. 13 – Art & Architecture
- Aug. 27 – 36 Years
Hayes Presidential is America’s first presidential library and the forerunner of the federal presidential library system. It is partially funded by the state of Ohio and affiliated with the Ohio History Connection. Hayes Presidential is located at Spiegel Grove on Buckland Avenue.
