The Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums (HPLM) is one of 10 presidential sites between the states of Ohio and Indiana participating in this program. HPLM is currently offering on-site and online activities.
Those interested in an on-site experience will receive materials upon arrival at the museum but are encouraged to print their own map from the Ohio History Connection website above. This program is also an opportunity for participants to receive a discount for site admission! ACTIVITY: It’s 1881 and Rutherford B. Hayes is slowly easing his way into retirement. He has left Washington DC and moved home to Fremont, OH with his wife, Lucy. He worked hard during his presidency and will continue to work hard in his retirement. He works hard for his community and the state of Ohio, but also makes time to rest and spend time with family and friends. He “sharpens the saw” by making sure he balances his life with work, relationships, learning, and fun. Spend the day with Rutherford as he settles into life at Spiegel Grove and begins unpacking his belongings. Fill out your scavenger hunt as you make your way around the virtual museum and library. Use the links provided to look around for answers on our website. |
