This collection was given to the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library and Museums by Pat Bedford in 2015.
Biographical Sketch
Anna Martha Dietzel, daughter of Christopher and Margaret (Biehl) Dietzel, was born July 19, 1853 in Wiessenborn, Germany. The family immigrated to Indian Falls, New York when she was 5 years old and then moved to Green Springs, Ohio in 1871. She married Claude Parker August 30, 1876 and they had 10 children, seven of whom survived to adulthood: Eugene, George, Theodore, Clark, Benjamin, Pearl, and Lulu.
Lulu Belle Parker was born February 28, 1891. She married Floyd Tea in 1911 and they were parents of two daughters, Rhonda and Evelyn.
Rhonda Tea, born August 7, 1917, married William Lawrence in 1947. They were the parents of a son, Michael, and a daughter, Pat, who donated this collection.
This collection also contains photographs, obituaries, and newspaper clippings for other families related to Anna or Claude Parker or their descendants, including: -Edward and Elsie Lambertson, aunt and uncle of Claude Parker; Bertha and Arthur Selman, niece and nephew of Claude Parker, who spent time in China as missionaries; -John Tickenor, grandfather of Floyd Tea; William and Mary Tea, parents of Floyd Tea, as well as Ethel Tea and Jay Tea, siblings of Floyd; Arthur and Mary Elsie (Overmyer) Fought who were the grandparents of William R. Lawrence, husband of Rhonda (Tea) Lawrence; and Baskey family, the family of the second marriage of William Lawrence’s mother.
Scope and Content
This collection contains photographs, obituaries, and genealogical records for descendants and collateral family lines of Anna Martha Dietzel and Claude Parker. The genealogical records include translated copies of German baptismal records for Anna and her sister Elizabeth Dietzel. Most of the photographs are identified. The collection spans the time period 1844-1986.
