The Conrad Hawk Family was one of the early pioneer families of Green Creek Twp., Sandusky County, Ohio. The material was preserved in the family of Margaret Hawk Purdham, a Hawk descendant.

Biographical Sketch
Conrad Hawk of Alleghany County, Pennsylvania migrated to Sandusky County, Ohio just as it was opened for settlement, purchasing land in Green Creek Twp. The large family (fourteen children) of David Hawk, eldest son of Conrad, intermarried with many of the Green Creek/Clyde area families.

Scope and Content
The collection consists of miscellaneous family memorabilia spanning the years 1850 to 1925, including photographs, legal documents, and vital records. The material relates to a number of Green Creek Twp. Sandusky County, Ohio families (Beard, Perin, Hutchinson) that intermarried with the Hawk family descendants. Most significant are the family documents and early ambrotype images, including those of George Hawk (in Civil War uniform) and Noble Perin. Both men served in the 72nd OVI. Noble Perin died in Andersonville Prison after being captured at the Battle of Brice's Cross Roads.
