Hazel May Taylor was born in 1901 in Clinton Township, Seneca County, Ohio. She graduated from Columbian High School in Tiffin, Ohio, in 1920. Two years later, she married Gilbert Norris Garland. She was a homemaker and lived in rural Seneca County and Tiffin, Ohio, until her death in 2000. The Garlands were the parents of three children: Ruth (Mrs. John Brill), Carl, and Edna (Mrs. Louis R. He first served as subscription solicitor and then as mail department manager. For a number of years he was associated with the Farm Bureau Insurance Company. The Garlands were active members of St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Tiffin, Ohio, for more than fifty years. Mr. Garland passed away in 1983.
