Introduction
The records of the Fremont Clergy Fellowship were donated by the St. Mark Lutheran Church Council in 2022.
Agency History
The Fremont Clergy Fellowship- Fremont Ministerial Association consisted of pastors of Fremont churches and leaders of local organizations that assist people in need in the community. Meetings were held from September to June, with locations and leaders changing monthly.
The Fellowship operated an emergency fund that was used for people in immediate need of money, food, gasoline, or shelter. The group played an important role in the formation and support of the Food Pantry, Liberty Center, Soup Kitchen, and Community Fortress. The group also organized a radio ministry program with WFRO Radio, baccalaureate services for public school graduations, and a hospital chaplaincy. Ecumenical services were performed during Lent, Good Friday, and other national events, like the 1976 bicentennial celebration, or international religious events, like the World Day of Prayer. The Fellowship also worked with WSOS in 1980 to rezone property on South Buchanan Street to accommodate low to moderate income housing, along with working with Habitat for Humanity. The Fremont Clergy Fellowship is no longer an active organization.
