Introduction
These ledger books were donated by James and Donna Reardon in 2012.

Biographical Sketch
Harmon Rodney Foster was born in Vermont, but made his home in Fremont in the 1830s. Foster married Mary Cazier in 1841 until her death in 1843. He remarried Margaret Garnet in 1851. In addition to farming, Harmon manufactured saddles and harnesses, eventually partnering with James Kridler to form Foster & Kridler. For a short time he also served as Justice of the Peace.

Scope and Content
This collection spans from 1835 to 1850. Two ledgers are included in this collection, one of which is approximately 50 pages in length and the second is approximately 200 pages in length. Both ledgers record the business accounts belonging to the saddle and harness making company of Foster & Kridler.  One ledger has newspaper clippings pasted throughout the pages with a variety of subject matter.  Some of the early documentation seem to cover accounts prior to the formation of the business partnership. The covers of these ledgers have been removed, but some of the cover remains attached at the binding of each ledger. A cd containing scanned images of the ledgers is included with the collection.
