Teen Museum Council exhibits will be on display during June 25 open house

Exhibits on world wars, the history of toys and more created by students in the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums Teen Museum Council will be on display during an open house Wednesday, June 25.

The open house is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Hayes Museum. Admission is free.

Afterward, stay for the ice cream social and Verandah Concert featuring the Bridge County Bluegrass Band.

Teen Museum Council members worked with Hayes Presidential staff to identify artifacts, manuscripts and photos that would be relevant to the topics in their exhibits and on set up and organization of these exhibits. The topics they chose to present in their displays are:

  • World War I
  • World War II
  • History of toys
  • Medical history – Civil War era and Gilded Age

The exhibits will then remain on display throughout the summer. Access will be included with regular museum admission, and Hayes Presidential members are admitted for free.

Teen Museum Council members are students at area high schools who meet monthly at Hayes Presidential to learn about the museum field and various jobs within it, from working in archives and curatorial positions to business and finance to administration to building and grounds management to marketing and design. The program is in its second year.
