Aug. 5 Verandah Concert to be online only, June concert rescheduled for September

The Hayes Presidential Library & Museums’ next Verandah Concert will feature a boogie woogie pianist and singer and take place live on Hayes Presidential’s Facebook page.

Matthew Ball, aka “The Boogie Woogie Kid” will perform at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, on Facebook live here:

Ball is an attorney turned musician who has performed across the world. He plays and sings New Orleans and Swing Era favorites from the 1920s, ‘30s and ‘40s.

Additionally, one of the June Verandah Concerts that was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic has been rescheduled for this fall. The Bridge County Bluegrass Band will play at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, on the verandah of the Hayes Home.

Visitors can bring a lawn chair or blanket for seating on the expansive lawn. They are also welcome to bring snacks or a picnic.

In order to maintain safety, visitors are asked to keep at least 6 feet of distance between their household group and other visitors. Household groups can be as small as one person. Face coverings are encouraged on the grounds.

Although Hayes Presidential is temporarily closed on Wednesdays, bathrooms will be available.
