Created with teachers and parents in mind, these activities are reflective of Ohio Education Social Studies Standards and seek to engage students at home
with historical and museum content.

Hayes Presidential Museum virtual tour 

Follow our Education Coordinator as she takes you on a tour of the Hayes Presidential Museum. Includes a worksheet to complete during the video. This tour can be used for grades 3+ but is tailored to meet 4th grade curriculum standards.

MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL AUDIENCE

Civil War primary source writing activity & Gallery Tour

Take a short tour with our Curator as he discusses Rutherford Hayes’s Civil War experience in our Civil War gallery. Includes a worksheet to complete during the video.

After taking the tour, take a look at primary source documents from Rutherford and Lucy Hayes – diary entries and letters - then imagine and write about a Civil War experience.

Time: 45 min (incl. tour - 5 min) -  writing time can be adjusted per the instructor

The 1876 election was an unusual election. Follow our Curator on a tour of our 1876 Campaign gallery to learn about the 1876 election. Includes a worksheet to complete during the video. Then take a look at some political cartoons from the era and answer questions.
