Fellow Soldiers, Ladies and Gentlemen – Feeling certain that I can add nothing to this grand representation – so beautiful, so real, so full of old memories of scenes both amusing and solemn, in camp, on the march, on the skirmish line and on the field of battle, I will not detain you with any thing I can say.  Therefore, merely thanking you for the compliment of the call you have made on me, and for the very beautiful and fragrant bouquet my fair friends have just presented me, I will resume my seat to witness and enjoy through the evening this most admirable representation.
