Isaac Van Doren (1777-1864) of Dutch descent, married Sarah Sebring (1780-1844) in 1805 near Somerset, New Jersey. The couple moved to Ohio in 1814, and settled in Crawford County, Ohio, where Isaac worked as a tanner near Tymochtee (later Wyandot County). Several of their children eventually settled in Clyde as well as Green Creek and York Townships in Sandusky County, becoming one of the county's earliest pioneering families.
The collection includes miscellaneous family, military, legal, and school records for a number of Van Doren descendants who remained in Sandusky County. Also included in the collection are two family bibles and a compilation of obituaries of Van Doren family members. The records were the result of several years of research by descendant Wayne Van Doren of Clyde, Ohio, the donor.
The collection includes individual files for each of the descendants listed.
