Introduction

The national Federation of Farm Women's Club devoted itself to the improvement of the lives of rural women by "creating relationships among rural women in order to promote, through common interest, the general welfare of the state, and especially the betterment of conditions in rural homes and communities and to afford the helpful interchange of ideas and club methods." Through speakers, literature, and projects, carried out at the chapter level, the organization focused on disseminating cultural knowledge and improving family health.

Agency History

The Batesole Community Farm Women's Club organized in 1925 to promote cooperation among farm women in the Batesole School District of Ballville Twp., Sandusky County for "social enlivenment and betterment of rural conditions in farm homes and communities." Beginning with eight charter members, the organization formed under the auspices of the Ohio Farm Women's Club Federation. Batesole was one of the original chapters established when women from Sandusky and Seneca Counties organized. Eventually, the organization included fourteen chapters in the rural areas of the two counties. At monthly meetings, members presented educational and cultural programs and performed charitable work through fund raising activities. Shortly after formation, the Batesole chapter created a "Junior Club" for members' daughters and other young women interested in the objectives of the club. In 1994, membership stood at fourteen.
