Charles Johnson Intern 2009

Charles Jonson

Charles Johnson

Charles Johnson of West Lafayette, Indiana is a senior at Grace College where he is majoring in History. He also runs Cross Country and Track for Grace College. In addition to his studies, Charles serves as an intern for Indiana Congressman Mark Souder. He is interested in the role of religion in the lives of people. Charles plans to continue his studies in History at the graduate level.

During his archival internship at the Hayes Presidential Center, Charles was excited to organize, process, and perform conservation measures on the Reverend Franklin Ohlinger Family Papers. Ohlinger, a native of Sandusky County, Ohio, was a missionary for the Methodist Mission Board in Foochow, China and Korea during the 19th century. Charles not only researched the Ohlinger family, but also this period of intensive missionary work in China by the Methodist Mission Board.
