Event List

Time: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Event Title: CIVIL WAR: Battlefield & Homefront
Event Description: The year 2011 marks the 150th anniversary of the start of America’s Civil War. On the exact date that the first Confederate shots were fired on Fort Sumter – the act that marked the war’s beginning – the Hayes Presidential Center opens CIVIL WAR: Battlefield & Homefront. The exhibit interprets the war years using the letters of Northern Ohio residents who served in the war and those who stayed behind. Much has been written about the lives of soldiers, but the lives of those back at home is virtually unexplored. This exhibit is made possible through sponsorship from Auto-Owners Insurance and Diversified Insurance.

Time: 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Event Title: Searching Your Ohio Roots
Event Description: Becky Hill, Head Librarian, will concentrate on Ohio resources for tracking down your family in the Buckeye state – vital records, land records, printed and online materials. She will also touch on the migration patterns to the state. Cost is $10/adult, $5/students through high school. Pre-registration required.
