Event Title: Privy to History: Civil War Prison Life Unearthed
Event Description: Northwest Ohio is home to the only Union Army Civil War prison specifically designed to house captured Confederate officers. Johnson's Island Civil War Prison continues to reveal tantilizing details about the war and the men who fought and died. This exhibit focuses on additional information learned through archaeological evidence discovered since the 1965 publication of 'Rebels on Lake Erie' - the seminal history of the prison written by Charles E. Frohman. Numerous artifacts recovered from the site in recent years are on display. This exhibit is funded by the Sidney Frohman Foundation & Friends and Descendants of Johnson’s Island Civil War Prison.

Event Title: Second Saturdays R 4 Kids
Event Description: A hands-on educational series for children and parents focusing on the theme “Exploring the Civil War.” Series sponsor is Heinz North America. This session sponsored by Walmart-Port Clinton. Cost is $1/child, $7.50/adult (includes Museum admission), free to those with Hayes Center "family" memberships. Today's topic is "Life in a Civil War Army Camp" - learn about Rutherford and Lucy Hayes' experiences while at winter camp in the Kanawha Valley.
