Event Title: Rutherford B. Hayes: Buckeye President
Event Description: In his first term as Ohio governor, Rutherford B. Hayes urged the legislature to establish a land-grant college funded by the sale of public lands given to the state by the Morrill Act of 1862. Hayes’ persistence resulted in creation of the Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College – later known as The Ohio State University. The Hayes Presidential Center highlights the strong link between Rutherford Hayes and the university in its new exhibit 'Rutherford B. Hayes: Buckeye President' on exhibit Oct. 17, 2013 through April 13, 2014. This exclusive exhibit is made possible through funding from Diversified Insurance and Auto-Owners Insurance.

Event Title: Internet Genealogy I Class - Using Free Internet Genealogy Sites
Event Description: Attendees will be provided the basics of how to utilize subscription-free genealogy websites in their family-history research. Such Internet resources as the Center's Ohio Obituary Index, along with,,,, and other popular sites will be explored in depth. Sponsored by RootsMagic Inc.Pre-registration required. Cost is $10/adult and $5/students through high school. Pre-registration requested.

Event Title: Second Saturdays R 4 Kids
Event Description: A new interactive educational series for children and parents focused on a theme of "Exploring the Civil War" made possible by Heinz NA. This session is titled "War!" and funded in part by Walmart-Fremont. Children can volunteer to serve in the Civil War, and through role playing learn about soldiers, officers, and military training. Cost is $1/child, $7.50/adults; free to those with a Hayes Center "family" level membership.
