538. Samuel Hayes Elliot was born on 23 October 1809 in Brattleboro, Windham Co., VT. He graduated in 1841.⁴ He died on 11 September 1869 in New Haven, New Haven Co., CT. Samuel was a clergyman and author.⁴ He was a clergyman of the Congregational Church and kept a bookstore in New Haven. He was the author of New England's Chattels and other works.

He was educated at Union and Yale College with degrees of B.A. and B.D. A memoir of him was written by his son, Charles Samuel Elliot.

Samuel Hayes Elliot and Marcia Lauretta Harvey were married on 9 October 1844 in Somerville, Somerset Co., NJ.⁴ Marcia Lauretta Harvey was born on 19 February 1822 in Jamestown, Chautauqua Co., NY. She died on 20 December 1899 in Newark, Essex Co., NJ.

779	i.	Charles Samuel Elliot was born on 31 December 1846 in Woodbridge, New Haven Co., CT. He graduated in 1867 in Yale University. He lived in Brick Church, NJ in 1884. Charles died in 1904 in Cooperstown, Otsego Co., NY. Died at his sister's home in Cooperstown, suffering from rheumatism and arthritis. Studied in London and Paris also. Editor, journalist and organist. In 1887, was working as the Washington correspondent for the NY Commercial Advertiser. "Formerly musical editor of the Boston Post and now attached to the editorial staff of the Parisian, Paris, France, he has been elected an honorary member of the Paris Association Artistique."
