665. Delia A. Pettibone was born on 22 January 1819 in Delaware, Delaware Co., OH. She died on 1 October 1888 in Fremont, Sandusky Co., OH. She was Presbyterian. Active in the Soldiers' Aid Society. She resided at the corner of Birchard and Arch Street. Delia A. Pettibone and Austin Birchard Taylor were married on 27 April 1840 in Fremont, Sandusky Co., OH. Married by Rev. Ferris Fitch, Presbyterian minister. Austin Birchard Taylor was born on 14 November 1813 in Newfane, Windham Co., VT. He appeared in the census in 1850 in Fremont, Sandusky Co., OH. 1850 Census A. B. Austin appears in in History of Sandusky County by Homer Everett 1882, pg. 539-540 Austin Taylor and his younger brother Pardon and sister Cynthia were left as orphans by the death of their father in 1818. In 1834, Austin entered the store of his uncle, Sardis Birchard, in Lower Sandusky, later Fremont, Ohio. In 1844, he signed a petition to change the name of Lower Sandusky to Fremont, which change took place in Oct. 1849. "Give my love to Austin Taylor. I should like to hear from his sister [Cynthia]; he is not doubt interested for her and hears from her, but they never knew their mother as she was when I knew her and could not appreciate as she deserved" Sophia Birchard Hayes to her brother, Sardis Birchard, July 16, 1842 "Austin Birchard's wife has presented him with a pair of 'em! Whew!... RBH, Fremont, OH to Fanny A. Hayes Platt, Sept 9, 1849 In 1851, Austin B. Taylor became a Justice of the Peace for one term and mayor of Fremont, April. 4,1853, defeating Brice Bartlett. When he died in 1857, he left a large estate. In his will he mentioned his brother Pardon F. Taylor and his sister, Cynthia B. Taylor. He named James Justice his executor; witnesses to his will were Rutherford B. Hayes and Lucy Webb Hayes. Delia A. He served in the military as an assistant surgeon in 1865 in 169th OVI. He served the summer of 1865 in Washington, DC He graduated in 1875 in Starling Medical College, Columbus, OH. Sardis died on 15 July 1903 in Fremont, Sandusky Co., OH. He was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont, Sandusky Co., OH. Sardis Taylor was a physician. He worked with Dr. Martin Stamm in experimenting with giving lamb's blood transfusions (Fremont Journal, July 30, 1875, pg. 8). He began the practice of medicine in Fremont in 1864. He did not marry.
