553. Fanny Arabella Hayes was born on 25 January 1820 in Delaware, Delaware Co., OH. She died on 16 July 1856 in Columbus, Franklin Co., OH. She was buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, Franklin Twp., Franklin Co., OH. She graduated from an excellent academy in Putnam, Muskingum Co, OH about
18--. Valedictorian of her class, Queen of May, etc. (RBH recollections)..
There is a well-preserved daguerreotype of her in the Hayes Library; an oil portrait by C.T. Webber of her and an oil portrait made from the daguerreotype, bequeathed to the Hayes Museum by her grandson, Rutherford Platt, in 1975.

President of Columbia Gas Co. from 1846 to shortly before he died.
Obituary (not cited):
" Mr. Platt was a warm hearted, public-spirited gentleman, an active and enterprising businessman and a man of genial and noble characteristics"

In his will, he mentions his niece, Mrs. Ada Coolidge and Mrs. Fanny E. Tayer of Toledo, Ohio.
