254. Clarissa Hayes¹⁷ was born 24 NOV 1789/90 in W. Brattleboro, Windham Co., VT. "At 92, somewhat deaf, but mind and memory in perfect condition; cheerful and happy" RBH

April 29, 1880. - Mrs. Sarah Moody Kilbourn, of Delaware, Ohio, my cousin, came to visit us after Lucy had started for Cincinnati. I am glad to have her here during Lucy's absence. I only regret that her mother, Aunt Moody, did not come with her. Although in her ninetieth year, and somewhat deaf from age, she is a most interesting person. She not merely remembers well and relates in an interesting way the events of many years ago, but she also is well informed and has an accurate memory as to current affairs in this country and abroad.
RBH Diary She lived in Bainbridge, Chenango Co., NY before 1870. She lived in Delaware, Delaware Co., OH in 1882.⁴ Clarissa died on 28 January 1883 in Delaware, Delaware Co., OH. Aunt Moody is in her ninety-second year-- feeble in body, somewhat deaf, but her intellect is good, and her conversation bright and sparkling. She remembers the current daily news well and is interested in what is going on in the world.

Saturday, [November] 4 (Birch's birthday), to Delaware. Aunt Moody well and interesting. She will be ninety-three the 24th of this month. She talked entertainingly of present events; had read the accounts of our doings in the newspapers; spoke of the comet and in that connection repeated verses written seventy years ago of the comet of 1812 and not seen by her since then! She compared the two comets! How agreeably the evening with her and with Lucy's friend Callie Little did go by.

Clarissa Hayes and Azor Moody were married on 15 May 1811 in West Brattleboro, Windham Co., VT.⁴ Azor Moody was born on 17 October 1778 in Granby or S. Hadley, Hampshire Co., MA. He graduated in 1803 in Dartmouth College. He lived in Granby, Hampshire Co., MA before 1811.⁴ Azor lived in Bainbridge, Chenango Co., NY after 1811.⁴ He died on 19 July 1854 in Bainbridge, Chenango Co., NY. He was a merchant and farmer.⁴ Educated for the ministry. He came to W. Brattleboro to teach in the Academy as did Noyes and Dyer Bancroft. Became a merchant and farmer, Resided in Granby, MA. for several years before moving to Reading, then Bainbridge, NY

Clarissa Hayes and Azor Moody had the following children:
