1045. Walter Sherman Hayes was born on 27 July 1893 in Toledo, Lucas Co., OH. He graduated in 1914 in Choate School, Wallingford, CT. He graduated in Cornell University. Walter lived in Indianapolis, Marion Co., IN in 1924. He lived in Toledo, Lucas Co., OH in 1926. He lived in 620 East Boundary, Perrysburg, OH 43551 between 1939 and 1973. Walter died on 28 April 1976 in Hillcrest Home, Waterville, Lucas Co., OH. He was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont, Sandusky Co., OH. Joined the US Navy in 1917 and attended Officers Training School at the Naval Academy. Resigned from the Navy in 1919 as a Lt. (JG).
From 1919 to 1924 her was employed in Cleveland and Indianapolis in advertising. He later became a salesman in insurance until retiring from Brooks Insurance
He was active in the Boy Scouts, the American Red Cross and a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Perrysburg..
He was red-haired, along with his wife and two children.

Walter Sherman Hayes and Rachel Carr were married on 19 October 1935 in Toledo, Lucas Co., OH. Married in the Collingwood Ave. Presbyterian Church by Rev. R. Lincoln Long. Rachel Carr was born on 10 April 1908 in Toledo, Lucas Co., OH. She lived in Minnesota in 2005. She died on 22 February 2009 in Edina, Hennepin, Co., MN. RACHEL CARR (HAYES) FALCONER

Rachel Carr Falconer, 100, formerly of Perrysburg, Ohio, died Sunday,
February 22, 2009, in Edina, Minnesota. Rachel was born April 10, 1908, in
Toledo, Ohio, to William C. and Cora Elizabeth (Crim) Carr. She married
Walter S. Hayes in 1935. He died in 1976. She married Robert D. Falconer
in 1978, and he died in 1986.

Rachel was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in
Perrysburg. For many years she provided and arranged the flowers for the
Sunday services, and she worked tirelessly at the annual rummage sales. She
was a member of the Perrysburg Garden Club and the New Century Club,
and she was a charter member of the Junior League of Toledo. She learned to
love birds and nature from her mother. She felt lucky and thankful to have
the love of family and friends.

Rachel is survived by her son, Walter Sherman "Sandy" Hayes (Jean
Hayes) of Scotia, NY, daughter Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" Parks (Gregg Parks)
of St Louis Park, MN; grandchildren Elizabeth Hayes of North Adams, MA,
Laura Hayes (Joseph Ayotte) of Concord, NH, Scott Russell Hayes (fiancé
Laurie Cooper) of Springfield, NH, Jonathan Gregg Parks of Minneapolis,
MN; and great grandson Dean Hayes Ayotte of Concord, NH. Rachel was
preceded in death by her brothers, Robert, Richard, and William Carr and
sisters, Elizabeth Slade and Louise Yerxa.

A celebration of Rachel's life will be held March 14, 2009, at 4:00
p.m., at First Presbyterian Church of Perrysburg, 200 E. Second Street,
Perrysburg, Ohio 43551, with the Rev. Jeanne Kumbalek officiating. Burial
will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Rachel's
name to First Presbyterian Church of Perrysburg or to a charity of the donor's
choice. She attended Smead School for Girls and the Westover School in Middlebury, CT, graduating in 1928.
She was a charter member of the Junior League of Toledo.
