Fremont Federal Credit Union Sponsors 4th Grade Field Trip
Fremont Federal Credit Union sponsored visits for about 70 4th grade students from Woodmore in in December 2013. As part of their day at the Hayes Center the 4th graders visited both the Hayes Home and Museum. The entire experience was part of the Hayes Presidential Centers Curriculum Connections program. Teachers who accompanied their students to the center remarked that their visit to the center was a great opportunity for students to experience local history,"and that "the Hayes Center ties in nicely to the Ohio fourth grade social studies standards." Students showed their appreciation for their sponsor by writing thank you notes, one of these is pictured above.
Designed as a three-part "satellite classroom" experience, Curriculum Connections provides each teacher with two educational DVD resources for classroom pre and post visit activities. Created by the Hayes Center staff, the fully-narrated DVDs complement the learning experience of students onsite visit. Exploring Ohio's Past : A Visit to the Hayes Presidential Center features the Hayes Center's original documents, photographs, artifacts, and the physical environment of Spiegel Grove. Fully aligned with Ohio s Academic Content Standards, Curriculum Connections also encourages students critical thinking skills and creativity through its How Can We Learn More? follow-up activities.
