The Big Yellow Buses of Genoa Area Local Schools Arrive at the Hayes Presidential Center
On December 4th, 106 Genoa Area Fourth Grade Students arrived at the Hayes Presidential Center thanks to sponsor Materion of Elmore, Ohio. One of the Hayes Center's original sponsors of its recently designed Curriculum Connections Education Program, Materion is making it possible for all Ottawa County 4th grade students to participate by covering their admission costs.
Before students arrive, educators receive a pair of DVDs, featuring photographs, video presentations, written materials, artifacts, and online links to resources. Developed by the Hayes Center staff, the classroom satellite experience aligns with the state of Ohio's Social Studies standards. Students come prepared to experience firsthand the people and places who made History happen!
Students visiting during the 2012/2013 school year are the first to experience the recently restored Hayes Home. The 31-room Hayes Home’s interior painstakingly has been restored to the way President Hayes and his wife Lucy decorated and furnished it.
Materion's sponsorship has helped the Hayes Presidential Center reach out to more area schools in a time of reduced school budgets. If you are a business owner, foundation representative, or school district interested in learning more about the
