FUNERAL OF JOHN RUSSELL
December 18, 1869
But few words were necessary. John Russell had no double standard. What he was at home, that he was everywhere—a good, firm, true and honest man. Such is our testimony—testimony of those associated with him in official life. And we can earnestly and sincerely say of those who are gathered round his bier this morning now—of the bereaved widow and orphans—God bless them all.
