Washington, May 26, 1879 – President Hayes, by arrangement this evening, received some three hundred delegates from the International Convention of the Young Men’s Christian Association, which adjourned last night in Baltimore. The reception took place in the East Room. Mr. Ames, President of the Washington Young Men’s Christian Association, introduced the delegation as the representatives of 2400 Young Men’s Christian Associations from all lands. The President said it afforded him great pleasure to receive so many young men and expressed himself as in hearty sympathy with their noble work of helping young men. A reception was given to the delegates at Lincoln, this evening, with a large audience present.
